As you will be doing your internship with us for a period of 4-6 months, I would like to orient you on few basic issues to take care of to ensure that you have a pleasant time in Auroville.

| Personal security |
- Do not drive around on 2 wheelers in the night in and around Auroville even if you are not alone.
- Please inform someone where and for how long you will be gone, if you have to out late to ensure that there is follow up in case of an accident / emergency
- Please do not hang out on the beaches after 19.00 hours even if you are a group of people. The local fisherman community do not welcome beach parties and non-locals hanging out.
- If you are a foreign national (non � Indian passport holder), please report within 3 days of arrival in Auroville to the local office for visas and foreigners.

| Transport |
- If you are going to be driving around on a motorised vehicle during your stay in Auroville, please ensure that you have the relevant papers that allows you to do so. Any issues with the local police / law in this area can be unpleasant.
- When driving around you will be asked for lifts by children, tourists and local people. Women are warned not give lifts to males over the age of 15 as it can be dangerous.
- Please ensure that you park and lock your vehicle safely at all times and have insurance for your vehicle.

| Clothing |
- Being located in rural India, it is essential that you respect the cultural sensibility of the local people
- Skimpy and tight clothes are not tolerated and you could attract unwanted attention that could be detrimental to your personal safety.
- Most of the year light clothing is sufficient in Auroville except during monsoons (Oct-Dec) when you would need a rain coat. The summers are very hot and humid (Apr-June), so you would need frequent change of clothing due to excessive

Security of
possessions |
- Do not leave around your lap top, camera and other electronic goods unsupervised when you are not using it
- Please have a secure place for your money and valuables rather than leaving it around in your rooms / homes.

| Code of conduct with the local people |
- The local people around Auroville are by and large very friendly and hospitable. Please respect their views and do not try to invite intimacies with them in a manner that could create social disharmony
- Please do not invite persons to your rooms or to the houses that you may be invited to house-sit during your stay here without first checking out if it would not compromise your safety and / or violate the policies of the place you are staying.

| Substance abuse |
- Alcohol is not permitted in any of the Auroville public spaces and guest houses.
- Any substance abuse or possession is not tolerated as per the laws of the country.
